In the fast-paced world we live in decision making is relentless! Whether you are a leader in the business world, or making financial decisions, the ability to make sound choices is crucial for our well-being. Surprisingly, one powerful tool for improving decision-making lies within us – mindfulness. I discovered Mindfulness years ago and it has been a great help in not only decision making but enjoying the process. When utilizing a mindful approach, individuals can experience a reduction in heart rate, creating a physiological state that enhances their capacity for better decision-making.
Mindfulness is rooted in ancient practices like meditation and yoga and involves paying attention to the present moment without judgment. When we engage in mindfulness, we activate the body’s relaxation response, leading to a decrease in heart rate. This reduction is not only a physiological effect; it plays a pivotal role in sharpening our cognitive functions.
A lowered heart rate is a result of a shift from the body’s stress response (fight-or-flight) to the relaxation response (rest-and-digest). In this state, the body is better equipped to handle decision-making processes.
